Test automation has become an indispensable part of every modern software development process. Organizations looking to test earlier, more and more often to support their ever faster development and release cycles are looking at test automation as the holy grail to solve all of their testing problems. Unfortunately, in practice, not all that glitters is gold… Test automation projects become overly complex, expensive and hard to maintain as a result of unrealistic expectations.
But what can you do to make the implementation of test automation a success? What questions should you ask? What are common traps and what can you realistically expect when implementing test automation?
To help you get started in doing test automation the right way, I have developed the ‘Test automation awareness’ workshop.
This half day workshop will provide you with the insight to get realistic about your test automation, and what it will (and will not) do for your software development and delivery process. You will learn what form of test automation is best suited for different situations, as well as how to debunk common test automation myths.
The workshop is highly interactive and offers plenty of opportunity to ask questions and contribute with real life examples from your own daily work.
This workshop covers the following topics:
- What is test automation?
- Why should you use test automation? What are NOT good reasons for introducing test automation?
- What should test automation be used for? When should you NOT use it?
- The test automation pyramid, its benefits and its fallacy
- Critical test automation success factors
- Setting expectations and debunking test automation myths
